Dancing Sesame
A Narrative Poem by Dana Kaki
Sesame went out dancing
And while she was lost prancing
A witch flew down casting
“She shall be hit
She shall be wrecked
She shall be dent
But she shall be kept”
Sesame ran home eyes red
To her mother and her tent
in her arms she wept
And with that she was met
With a sorry glance and a simple peck
the next day sesame went out chanting
“She shall be hit
She shall be wrecked
She shall be dent
Down a mountain
She shall be sent”
A green hue, black hat, pointy shoe,
And a gray cloud that only grew
The witch now tumbling
But sesame ,like her friends, was hurting
Still affected by the cursing
Suffering the consequences of murdering
what they had called a “pest”
The witch once called a pet
